What Is The Effect Of High TSH Level On The Fetus?

hi doctor i am pregnant and 7 weeks. Last week my doctor found my tsh level is 5.14 and I was referred to an endocrinologist. He started thyoronorm 12.5 mcg from today.I just want to know if I am too late for this treatment, will it affect my baby s development because it is already 7th week?, is this dose is enough for my baby s development, I never had increased tsh in past.

Hello,

If corrected now, there is no reason to panic about your baby, because everything is going to be OK. Regarding the dose, I would recommend checking again TSH levels after a month, in order to make the proper dose adjustments if needed.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ilir Sharka, Cardiologist
