What Is The Expected Longevity For A CHF Patient?

my father is 94 and has chf, he sleeps alot now during the day, his feet and ankles are all purple/red and swollen, has trouble getting his breath with even minor exertion (like covering himself with a blanket) is incontinent, etc. How long can a person at his age hang on with this this condition... It is so frustrating to him

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

I understand that it is difficult for your father and yourself. Is he on any medicines? There are medicines which would make him more comfortable and less breathless as long as he lives. Restricting fluids and salt will help in reducing the swelling of feet and raising the head end will help ease the breathlessness.
I shall be happy to answer any further query.
