What Is The Flesh Colored Tag Between Tonsil And Uvula
Hi, I hope you can help me with your opinion. My son who is 5, has had this flesh coloured small tag, probably the size of a lady bug, in between his tonsil and uvula. I have been monitoring it for about a year. It has not changed in colour or size, it does not bother or hurt him, he has not had any throat infections. I am concerned that this is some type of tonsil cancer. Is this something uncommon or something I should have removed? Or is this just extra tissue that I shouldn t worry about? Thank you so much. Cathy
Noted your history about your 5 year old son having a small tag between uvula and tonsil, following for about a year, not changed color or size. The commonest cause as per the description you have given seems to be islet lymphoid tissue of tonsil. Can be an inactive small cyst. Since there is no change in color, size, no symptoms related to it this looks to be benign hence not a cancer. So no worries for a 5 year old son. You can certainly get this confirmed by consulting an ENT Surgeon. Have wait and watch policy.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
