What Is The Ideal Dosage Of Albendazole Oral Suspension For A Child?
Hello Doctors,my son is 2 years and a half, he has been checked by in the hospital and they have found that my son has hookworms, they gave him Ffinazol 400 s Albendazole oral suspension, but i was not there in the hospital and my wife told me that the doctor said we have to give him this dose for two day in low,but i do not think if its right, this is just single dose right?or should we also give the son another bottle of this medicine?thank you in advance.
A single dose of Albendazole is enough for deworming hookworm infection.
As per the recommendations by Centers for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC), a single oral dose of Albendazole 400 mg is sufficient for the treatment of hookworm (deworming) in children.
Other alternate effective drugs that can also be used include Mebendazole 100 mg orally twice daily for 3 days or 500 mg single oral dose.
Other problems associated with hookworm infection like iron deficiency anemia or certain nutritional deficiencies if found must also be treated accordingly.
Hope this answers your query.
