What Is The Implication Having The Result Reactive To HBsAg Test?

Hello! We have a cook in our house, she had her HBsAg last day and the result is reactive. What could be the harm or effect of having HBsAg reactive result as she works with us/our family. She has no symptoms that she is sick but is she infectious? What would be the preventions that we should do? Thanks Doctor.

Hello,
Welcome to HCM,
Hepatitis B virus (HBV) is usually spread by intimate sexual contact or parenterally.
This is usually from blood or blood products, whether by intentional transfusion or sharing same needle for injection
Prevention of transmission can be done by
Practice safe sex.
Avoid sharing intravenous drug.
Immunize at risk individuals.
Wear gloves when exposed to blood or body fluids.
Clear up blood or body fluids, using warm water and detergent.
Handle sharps safely.
Acute infection with hepatitis B usually does not require treatment.

Apart from the preventive measures who may take hepatitis B vaccine which is safe and effective, but should not be seen as an alternative to a strategy of prevention of transmission.
For adult three dose of Hepatitis vaccine on 0,1 and 6 months.
Hope i have answered your query. Feel free to post query.
Thank you.
