What Is The Interpretation Based On This Swab Test Report?
I had a recent lab test from swab on my right hand and the results were - 2+ EPITHELIAL CELLS NO WBC'S SEEN 1+ GRAM POSITIVE COCCI and the culture result was:3+ STAPHYLOCOCCUS, COAGULASE NEG. what is the interpretation of this and Is this something to be concerned about?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.
This swab tests show that you have epithelial cells 2+, along with some gram postitive round bacteria in it. The bacteria are differentiated as staphylococcus (round bacteria which are found in clusters) & these bacteria are coagulase negative These type of bacteria can be found on any part of skin. so you should not be too concerned about it.
Hope this information helps
