What Is The Large Indentation On The Left Buttock?

I have a large indentation on my left buttock. It s about 3 inches in diameter. It is dark red in the center. Nothing on the other side. I think it s been there for about 3 months. My husband thinks it s getting larger. Not really any pain - maybe sore. I m notice it through my clothes. What might it be? I m female and 49 yrs old. Healthy otherwise.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to lipoma.

A lipoma is a lump under the skin that occurs due to an overgrowth of fat cells.

I suggest consulting a surgeon for further evaluation and treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
