Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Is The Life Expectancy Of A Patient Suffering From Heart Disease?
I am a 62 year old female, slightly over weight, non smoker with family history of heart disease. In the last 5 years I have had 3 stents. Two are in the same artery. I have been told I have another artery at 40% and 2 more at 50%. I am trying to keep moving and trying to cut down on certain foods. My mother died of a massive coronary at the age of 75 after having a heart attach in her mid 60 s. That was over 30 years ago. What and how long will I expect to live?
We can not change our genes but we can change our lifestyle. Shed excess weight, be physically active, drink green tea, de-stress yourself, meditate, have fiber-rich diet, avoid junk food, avoid alcohol, keep your blood pressure in normal limits and get it checked periodically, take your cardiac medicine as prescribed and don't default. Don't worry you will live long. Options of stent revision and cardiac bypass are still open for you.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. AJEET SINGH, General & Family Physician
