What Is The Life Expectancy Of A Person With Deteriorated Heart Condition?

My husband s cardiologist told him his heart function has gone from 40% in 2014 to 20% recently. He may recommend an ICD. He also is diabetic and has multiple myeloma (both under control at the moment) ... what kind of life expectancy does he have? His weight is also under control.

Thanks for asking at Healthcare Magic. I read your question and I understand your concern.
The median survival of patient with multiple myeloma depends upon stage of disease.
stage 1: 62months
stage 2:44 months
stage 3: 29 months.
The life expectancy of male patient with heart failure is 8 years on average and the incidence of sudden cardiac death is 6-9 times more common in first year of diagnosis compared with general population.
Diabetic patients life expectancy reduced by 10-20 years compared to healthy general population.
In nutshell depends upon age and stage of disease life expectancy can be calculated. As multiple myeloma is the main devastating disease; so it is 2.5-5 years.
Hope it helps best.
