What Is The Life Expectancy Of A Person With Heart Stents And 40% Ejection Fraction?

I had a heart attack 8/22/14 two stents inserted. One failed 2/12/15. Three heart catheters thus far. Diagnosed eschemic cardiomyopathy 4/9/15. Trying to eat right and some walking. Heart functioning around 40%. Any suggestions and expected life expectancy?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
I had gone through your question and can understand your concern very well.

According to the information provided from your side, i would like to tell you that i have seen so many patients just like you with two stents and low ejection fraction and they are living healthy life since 10, 15 or 20 years and still they are not having any issues.

In your case, if you take your medications regularly, follow up regularly, have some life style modifications, remain stress free, then you can live for so many years without having any problem, but again nobody can tell the future, so nobody can write down you on stamp paper that you are going to live for these many years!!

So many patients with same situations like you (even with ejection fraction of less than 20%), live for very long without any significant problems, so you need to keep faith in god and your doctor. Don't worry, you are going to live longer and enjoy your life.

Hope this answers your question and let me know if you are having any further relevant questions, i will be happy to guide you in right direction.
