What Is The Life Expectancy Of Someone With 19% Heart Function?
My husband has 19 % heart function. He is 64 recently had 4th amputation,. He has vascular disease, kidney disease, heart disease, diabetes, dialysis, open heart 4 by passes, has recently had staph aureus in his blood stream. Running out of places to put in dialysis ports due to blood flow. He hasa history of MRSA not currently. Double above knee amputee, history of TIA Strokes Doctors suggesting palliative care. Your opinion?
As per my clinical experience, there are multiple system involvements like kidneys, heart, peripheral blood vessels and micro circulation, over all condition of patient is hampered from systemic point of view. Many of such patients, maintain day to day life with supportive medications and measures and live long life unless a major threat to heart or kidney function is experienced. Still, life expectancy can not be predicted from online platform without patient evaluation on just basis of 19% heart function, but overall, I can say that prognosis is guarded and patient must be in regular follow up care with his physician.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
