What Is The Lump Deep In The Armpit And Is Very Painful?

I have been experiencing pain in my right armpit. I have been short of breath as well. I saw my family Doctor 2 days ago. She discovered a lump 1cm in size. She did not say much but is sending me for a ultrasound and mammogram. The lump was deep in my armpit, I thought if a lump was painful that was a good sign?

Hi

You seem to have developed lymphadenitis which is a painful swelling and infection of the lymph nodes.
See a painful lymph node in most cases means an inflammatory condition , which in other words tends to rule out a malignancy.
But to be very sure , you need to be investigated further, as has been advised by your family doctor.
You should get an ultrasound or mammogram done as advised.
