What Is The Meaning If X Ray Report Says Subcentimeter Opacities In The Left Pelvic Bone And Left Femur ?

Hello Dr. I have back pain for the past couple of months and consulted a doctor who was suspecting a stones in Kidney and asked me to take x-ray. The X-ray report says Subcentimete opacities in the left pelvic bone and left femur. I want to understand the terms mentioned, does it related to kidney stones?

Thanks for writing in.

You might have been asked to get X rays to know any stones in the kidney and bladder areas. The small opacities can be benign calcifications most likely due to age related vascular calcification. If it were related to the kidneys then a mention would have been made with an element of suspicion. You may get an ultrasound scan of abdomen for further clarification.
