What Is The Meaning Of Disc Bulge With Small Right Paracentral Disc Protrusion As Shown On Results?

I have minimal anterolisthesis of L5 on S1 and of L4 and L%. Lumbar vertebral body stature and height appear within normal limits. The conus medullaris terminates at L1. The nerve roots appear evenly distributed in the thecal sac. There are no aortic aneurysm. There are no retroperitioneal masses. Disc levels L1-2 disc bulge with small right paracentral disc protrusion. Facet osteoarthropathy contributes to mild narrowing of the left neural foramen L2-3 disc bulge and facet osteoarthropathy contribute to mild bilateral neural foraminal narrowing. L3-4 disc bulgewith a right paracemtal disc protrusion. Facet osteoarthropathy contributes to mild central canal stenosis and mild to moderate narrowing of the right lateral recesss and right neural foramen. L4-5 Disc Bludge with small central disc protrusion. Facet osteoarthrophy contributes to mild bilateral neuroforaminal narrowing. L-5-S1 disc bulge with small central disc protrusion. Facet osteoarthropathy contributes to minimal bilateral neural foraminal narrowing. Impression 1. Disc bludge with a right paracentral disc protusion at 3-4 contributes to mild to moderate narrowing of the right lateral recess and right neural foramen. 2. Discogenic and spondylitic changes elsewhere in the lumbar spine contribute to mild degree of central canal and neural foraminal narrowing as outline above.

Radiologist 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

There is little misalignment of the bones in the lower spine but this appears of no significance. Also you seem to be having degenerative changes in your lower back region at the level of vertebrae L 3 and L 4. There are small flat disc like structures which have got mildly disturbed in your case and are herniating on the right side and also causing pressure symptoms on the nerves along the sides at that level. You do not need any surgical treatment.

You should should take medications after consulting a neurologist and avoid heavy physical activity.
