Hi, I woke up with a sore throat two days ago, I was spitting out amounts of saliva as the day went on I kept spitting out saliva, now I don t have a sore throat but I continue to have a lot of saliva, is this normal or should I get medication? Thanks
Sore throat is commonly caused by allergy, acid reflux, dental or throat infection, etc. You are suggested to take non sedating antihistamines, once daily for three days. You can rinse your mouth and gargle your throat with warm salt water three times a day.
Take liquid food or semi solid food so that you don't strain your throat unnecessarily. Take voice rest. Avoid spicy food and addictions if any. It should get well. However if you don't get relieve you should get clinically examined by an ENT, get swab and sputum tests done, you may need antibiotics.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
