Hello, thanks for doing this for people. My heart rate is 17 beats in 10 seconds (102 a minute).I m 15 and a male, is this abnormal? I wasn t exercising, or excited at the time I checked.I am trained in first aid through the B.S.A. s Emergency prep and first aid badges, so I know how to check my pulse.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The pulse rate may be normal one, let me inform you, if you go on reading your pulse rate with your own it may varies every time because of over consciousness, if you have some doubt then you need to see the physician clinical examination is must, else reading pulse rate without any symptoms is not advisable it may some time create the panic.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
