What Is The Normal Range Of Fasting Glucose In Oral Glucose Tolerance Test?

Hi Doc, I'm 32 yrs old pregnant at 34 weeks. I have given Oral GlucoseTolerance Test with the result of fasting glucose was 87mg/dl, 30 min glucose (OGTT)=159mg/dl, 1st Hour Glucose (OGTT)=101mg/dl, 2nd Hour Glucose (OGTT)=107mg/dl. How could you interpret this result. Is this normal or abnormal. Thanks and more power!

Hello,
GTT is mandatory during pregnancy to rule out any chances of gestational diabetes.
fasting blood is collected after 12 hours of fasting and its normal level is less than 110 mg/dl and your 87 is absolutely normal.
After that you have to take 75 gm of glucose with water and collect blood samples every half an hour (nowdays mini GTT is done, which contains only 2 samples fasting and 2 hours after glucose load).
Anyways, 1 hour post glucose level should be less than 180 and your 101 is absolutely normal. 2 hour post glucose should be less than 140 and your 107 is again normal.
So you have got all your sugar reports normal, so need not to be worry about this.
