What Is The Opinion On MRI Brain Showing Cyst Or Polyp In Maxillary Sinus And Nasal Septal Deviation?

MRI brain:1. Mild motion artifact. No evidence of intracranial hemorrhage, mass, or acute ischemia.2. Minimal nonspecific hyperintense T2/FLAIR signal in the left pons could be artifactual in nature but can also be seen with chronic small vessel ischemia, demyelinating disease, and changes related to prior trauma, inflammation, or infection.3. Minimal inferior right mastoid opacification.4. Small mucous retention cyst or polyp in the right maxillary sinus.5. Mild nasal septal deviation to the left.MR venogram head:1. No evidence of acute dural venous sinus thrombosis. There is normal variant dural venous sinus anatomy as above.2. Normal variant small arachnoid granulations in the right transverse sinus and superior sagittal sinus.

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

The report in simple terms means:
1. Slight movement during scan is noted and acceptable. No serious abnormalities in brain.
2. Small area in pons can be due to artifact (due to machine) or earlier decreased blood supply or infection (not a serious finding)
3. Right mastoid opacification suggests ear infection.
4. Small retention cyst in right maxillary sinus (not a significant finding)
5. Nasal septum is slightly deviated away from midline to the left.

MR venogram is normal.

You may consult an ENT surgeon with above report and get evaluated.
