Hi. the heart acts as a pump to supply blood to every part of the body. The left ventricle receives blood from the left auricle and pumps out blood for the body. In case the left ventricle cannot function as an effective pump there is accumulation in the left auricle, and similarly in the lungs as the left auricle receives blood from the lungs. Accumulation of fluids in the lungs causes a person to cough, difficulty in breathing and also decreased excercise tolerability.
