What Is The Pea Sized Lump On My Son's Back Of The Neck?

My son is 3 1/2 months old and I just got back from the pediatrician. He has a pea sized hard lump on right side of neck towards back of neck. Seems painless. Dr said its bigger than he likes for a 3 1/2 month old. He wants me to see an oncologist/hematologist. I'm awaiting their phone call. What can I expect?

Hematologist 's  Response
Hi, dear
I have gone through your question. I can understand your concern.
He may have enlarged lymphnode. Most probably it is due to reactive hyperplasia due to some infection. However it can be tuberculosis or lymphoma. He should take a course of antibiotics. If it doesn't respond to treatment then fine needle aspiration cytology or biopsy is advisable. No need to see oncologist directly. Consult your doctor and take treatment accordingly.
Hope I have answered your question, if you have doubt then I will be happy to answer. Thanks for using health care magic. Wish you a very good health.
