What Is The Permanent Cure For Hair Loss Problem?

HI im 46 year old female lost a lot of hair for past 3 weeks, was diagnosed with alopecia areata got first kenalog shot in scalp few days ago and i m using fluocinonide solution but it did not stop my hair from falling ,i have no medical history all my labs are ok except platelets at 590 .will this treatment stop hair loss and how soon?

Hi. Thanks for posting your concern at HCM

Alopecia areata commonly presents with bald patches of hair loss on the scalp which are sudden in onset. Treatment choices are: Intralesional steroid, Tolpical steroid, Topical Minoxidil, Topical Anthranalin, Topical PUVA etc.

Intralesional steroid and topical steroid are the most effective and usually the patients can see a response after 2 injections administered 3 weeks apart.

Around 80% of patches recover spontaneously within an year but treatment is often sought for because the patches are visible.
