hi,im having excessive dry skin and have tried all types of mosturizers from bio oil due to stretch marks, coco butter, shea butter, baby oil after taking shower.pls advise me is there is a solution to this as it seems like the dry skin has been in my family.
Hello, Welcome to healthcare magic. From your family history of dry skin, you could be having a dry skin disorder called as ichthyosis vulgaris. There is no permanent cure for this condition. It is not a disease per se, but a severe form of dry skin. You need to use mpisturisers regularly. If you do not use, your skin will become dry again. 1. You could apply an oil like coconut oil or any post bath oil within 3 minutes of bath. This will trap the moisture and prevent skin from becoming sticky. 2. Apply a thick moisturiser with cocoa butter ( like Palmers) in the evening and at bedtime. 3. Avoid hot water baths. Use only lukewarm water. 4. Use a soap free cleanser for bathing like cetaphil cleanser. Hope these help you. Take care.
