What Is The Permanent Treatment For Collapsed Artery?

My husband has a collapsed artery in his lower leg. He is taking Pentoxifylline 400mg 3 times a day. He was told to walk even though it hurts. He is 81 yrs old. He was told if he gets sores that don t heal, they will have to amputate his foot. Is there any thing else that can help him?

Dear patient,

Thanks for the query. You should look for the opinion of a Vascular Surgeon, to see if either a catheter intervention or a bypass graft is an option for your husband. Many times, it is not, and medical therapy is the only way to go, but if there is a chance, his quality of life could improve.

Hope this helps, wish you the best,
