What Is The Problem With Cough That Is Dark Green And White Pieces Of Hard Phlegm?

Hello there,

About 2 months ago I developed a cough which is standard enough but eventually my flu symptoms went away and the cough stayed, then I started to cough up hard sometimes dark green, sometimes really white pieces of hard phlegm. Not large amounts- small pieces. I know this might sound disgusting but I need to give a good description.. About the size of a large piece of mucus one would find in their nose. To me if feels like they are coming up on their own and I average about one a day. What is the problem?

Hi. This appears to be due to superadded infection of the respiratory tract. One gets a lowered immunity due to flu and then the opportunistic bacteria show up their harmful effects like this.
