What Is The Prognosis For A Person With MS?

My mother may have MS, she is getting tested for it today, and I ve been doing a lot of reading about it. I understand that it s not exactly genetic but it can play a small part and also having mono at one time in your life does increase your chances 20 fold I was just curious to know what my chances are.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Based on the history you have shared, if the neurological disorder is suspected at two different places in body at two different times and in between recovers completely raises suspicion of MS but may be completely unrelated and can be two separate pathologies.

MRi to look for plaques in specific areas of the brain and sometimes CSF tap is needed.

Though some variants of MS have a very good prognosis and now multiple treatment options are available. Neurologist review after the scans must be sought.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
