What Is The Prognosis For A Person With Ejection Fraction Of 20?
Hey, back November I had 3rd heart attack. With this one it was very hard find surgeon to perform surgery. When surgery finally began he had do the only bypass that could be done. There had to be a flap valve replaced. Pericardium, small leakage in rear that surgeon says he couldn t fix it could heal itself but... Any way during all the CRP I had 3 episodes of heart stoppage. 1 for 25 minutes. Anyway I came out with just less than 20% function. I go to heart failure clinic but as always I feel they are holding back as I can t do any normal activities. Guess my question would be is there rate of death or rate of life beyond a short period. I am 60 years old and I m tired of being a couch potato. Otherwise healthy.
Unfortunately prognosis will be bad. Considering the age major surgical or interventional procedures is not possible. Drugs like digoxin can help a bit.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
