What Is The Prognosis For A Person With Tri Germinal Neuralgia?
I have tri germinal nuelgia have been on fetenoyl for so many years.. it never really takes all the pain away. Years ago i would have fo take stronger doses as the time went by. Just wondering how long will my body be able to live on this stuff. Would not be alive if had not been on if
I can understand your concern. Unfortunately, most of the time, the cause and prognosis of Trigeminal Neuralgias is unknown.
However, the pain is controlled well by noninvasive (medicines) and invasive techniques. As you are taking medicines for a long time, your body may have become resistant to its effects and you may need higher doses. However, you can ask your prescribing doctor to change the molecule that you have not taken yet and lower dose of that drug might control the pain for you.
In addition, you can consider some invasive techniques for pain control like injection of alcohol into the nerve or microvascular surgery etc. You can discuss these techniques with your treating doctor.
I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish you feel better soon.
Best, Dr. Viraj Shah
