What Is The Prognosis Of COPD, Heart Failure With Oxygen Dependency?

My dad is 83. He has COPD and congestive heart failure. He is on oxygen full time. He weights 108 down from 135 last year. His feet and ankles are now swelling, his doctor has him on a diuretic. He is still living at home alone. How much longer does he have to live.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi, thanks for using healthcare magic

Unfortunately it is not possible to predict how long a person will survive. It would depend on co morbid conditions, response to medication, age, nutritional status.

His doctor may be able to provide a general (though not exact idea) for you.

I hope this helps
