Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
im am suffuring for to problems, 1) Bladder irritation due to inflammation 2) Shooting pain in my penis. I underwent an endoscopy where I was diagnosed to have inflammation in my bladder, following which I was treated for with cocktail therapy. However the neither of the two problems were solved. I was advised to visit a neurologist for the shooting pain who prescribed tryptomer 25 mg. I would like to know the purpose of this medication as its side effects include me having to force my urine, memory loss, dizziness, change in libido, dry mouth, lethargy. I would like to know if there is an alternative to this medicine/treatment.
As per my clinical experience, the Tryptomer is a tricyclic anti-depressant medication containing amitryptiline which is used in variety of clinical conditions as - Generalised anxiety disorders - Depression - Neuropathic pain - Urinary disorders As there are multiple side effects, the pros and cons of the therapy must be discussed with the treating physician before commencement of the therapy.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
