What Is The Reason And Treatment For Recurring Boils?

Gud day Doc. My 6 year old son has been battling with boil for some days now. As one disappears another one resurfaces from another place. presently he has one by his nose and it made the nose and cheek region to be swollen. He was given amoxillin caplet by my family doc; which he was meant to use for 7 days. Though he is still on the medication but I really would like to know why the boil keeps reoccurring. Thank you.

Dermatologist 's  Response
Hello,

As per your case history of recurrent boils, my treatment advice is -
1. Don't squeeze the lesions as it may worsen the condition.
2. Apply a mild antibiotic cream like fusiderm cream twice daily on it.
3. Take an NSAID like ibuprofen for 5-7 days.
4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics like levofloxacin, cefadroxil, and azithromycin taken only after consulting a dermatologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
