What Is The Reason For Abnormal PAP Smear After LEEP Procedure?
I am 40 about 4 years ago I found out I had not a normal pap smear . Well long story short try had a leep done they said I was good. Had a baby after it came back test said I was high risk now C3 and now getting surgery . The office im going/ teachers doctors and had talked so many doctors. . Now they r saying I should take both tubes out also can u help me why and should I take everything out. Just don t want them to tell me later in life found something else. Have 4 kids and just want to live a long life with them. . And don t want 10 different doctor s working on me and making mistakes like before. Help me please
Hi With the information you have given me I will try to give you a possible explanation. In a Pap smear the cells from the cervix are scraped off and sent to a pathologist. The pathologist looks at those cells and tells that the smear is abnormal. So in a pap smear the pathologist just gets few cells not a chuck of tissue. Ina LEEP procedure a part of cervix is taken out. This gives better diagnosis. Also in a LEEP procedure the aim is to take out all abnormal tissue. So if after the the LEEP the pathologist says for eg it's CIN 3 or there is still abnormal tissue left more treatment is needed. Letme know if you have any queries. Thanks
