What Is The Reason For Chills And Fever With Headache Has Not Subsided After Taking Tylenol?
I am a 27 year old female. On friday evening I had a fever and alternating the chills/sweats. I slept awful that night tossing and turning. I woke up the next day with a higher fever of 102, chills and sweats, body aches mostly in lower back and thighs and neck and pounding headache. This was on and off all day with varying temps as I took tylenol. Sunday, today, my fever is gone but the head pain is still there. I am still taking tylenol to stop the pounding but the pain is still there when I bend over, stand up and it is even behind my eyes if I look up or side to side. I have no other symptoms such as gi or respiratory so what could this be that causes just a fever and symptoms of a fever? My appetite has been ok. Not great during higher temps but at some point I end up hungry and able to eat something small. I had a small episode of loose stool today that I m not sure is related.
It appears that Tylenol has managed to control the fever but has not helped much in the headache. I feel you should see a doctor as soon as possible to rule out any serious conditions like meningitis, which can cause an increase in intra-cranial blood pressure, causing headache that worsens on bending. While your symptoms may be just due to a mild viral infection, I still feel it will be prudent to see a doctor. Meningitis, if not treated early, may even be fatal. So please do not worry and visit your doctor.
Best wishes.
