What Is The Reason For Spotting After Sex While On Birth Control Pill?

My boyfriend and I had sex and he didn't pull out I immediately went the next day and took the morning after pill. I was on my period at the time. That Sunday I started birth control and 5 days later, today, I have been spotting. We just had sex and there's was a little blood on the condom, what is the cause?
