What Is The Reason For Suddenly Losing Control Over The Body And Barely Walk?

I ve written a few paragraphs describing what happened to me and at the bottom it just deletes all. 1 more time. I got up from a movie seat to find I could barely walk. It felt like marshmellows and I had no control of my body. I patiently stood against a wall and moved slowly to get to the bathroom and sit on the toilet. I drank walter and after 10 mins. was able to walk to my car and drive home safely. I thought I was dehydrated but it had to be more than that. This was maybe 2 weeks ago .

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hi there,

Thanks for your query.

It was apparently due to compression of the nerves present at the back of your lower thighs (which supply the legs), between the thigh bone and the edge of the seat. This caused transient weakness of the affected nerves, leading to transient weakness of your legs.

There is NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT, as it is QUITE COMMON due to prolonged sitting. Occurs particularly in either very slim, or obese, people. Weakness of legs disappear within a few minutes when Nerves recover.

No treatment is required. Avoid sitting for a long time at a stretch. Getting up every 15-30 minutes and walking a few steps, would prevent recurrence of similar problems.

If you find my response helpful and informative, do not forget an “excellent” (5-star rating) to my answer, to ENCOURAGE ALL doctors- engaged in social service- to render sound advice to the FREE queries.

Take care
