What Is The Reason For The Bruise At The Back Of The Knee Which Is Sensitive To Touch And Have Low Iron Content?
I am a 22 year old female who has had rubbish overall health lately. Blood tests proved that my iron stores were low so I have been given 3 months supply of iron tablets. However after a week of taking then twice each day I am still experiencing extreme fategue, dizzy spells and shortness of breath. Last week a huge black unexplained bruise appeared on the back of the bottom part of my leg near the back of my knee, but towards the outside. There was a small lump which the bruise seemed to avoid on the outside edge which was sensitive to touch. The bruise has almost cleared but the lump is still there and I think it might even have grown. What might it be?
I can understand your concern for bruise, red dots on thighs.
Regarding the problem of bruises which we call medically as "purpuric or ecchymotic spots" is common condition seen due to multiple causes.
1. Due to trauma to the small blood vessels of the skin.
2. Due to some problem in the platelets ( the cells which prevents the extravasation of red blood cells from the vessels and forms the clot).
3. Due to problem with the coagulation factors which helps in repair of the injury to blood vessels and helps in clot formation.
For the best part of the diagnosis there are simple tests of platelet function and coagulation factors done routinely in all the simple laboratories to rule out the exact cause of the problem. If these tests are normal then you can rest assured and relieve your tensions regarding the rash. Otherwise also if the test are abnormal then also can be very well treated without any problem.
Take care.
