What Is The Reason For The Pain In Left Side Of My Back?

I seem to have a sinus infection, but the pain I have experienced is on left side of my head toward the back. The pain had come every 8 to 10 seconds. This morning, however, when I blew my nose and a few heavy chunks came out, the pain stopped. Now, only occasionally do I experience the pain. I am now taking pseudoephedrine HCI. I am not discharging any green matter.
