What Is The Recommended Blood Glucose Level For Tooth Removal?

My husband is diabetic and uses insulin daily. He has several teeth that have become infected and are causing him pain. He has been to a dentist, but the dentist put him on an antibiotic three weeks ago and will not pull the teeth until the infection clears.....I am wondering if the is causing the issues he is currently having trying to keep his blood sugar level even?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain Diabetics are more prone to infections as there is more glucose levels in bloods the bacteria gets a medium to feed and proliferate..
It is true that till the infection subsides extraction cannot be done and even the infection will subside faster if the blood sugar levels are kept in normal range..
The other thing is that healing is also delayed if blood sugar is high..
So I would suggest you that first of all consult your Diabetologist and get proper doses of oral medications and insulin.
Once the blood sugar comes in normal range both fasting and post meal you can proceed with getting extraction under proper antibiotic cover..
Proper oral hypoglycemic medications and insulin doses along with dietary modifications like curbing on refined carbohydrates and sugars and taking high fibre diet can help..

Hope this information helps.

Thanks and regards.
