What Is The Recommended Dosage Of Ibuprofen And Codeine For Back Pain?

Hi, I hurt my back while performing a squat exercise. Usually a back pain his away after a week or so. This one shows me to walk but everytime I sit down it begins to hurt with sharp paid around the lower back. I have been taking strong ibuprofen and codeine for the last three weeks but The pain does not seem to go away unless I take around 800mgs of codeine and 800mg of ibuprofe. I am frightened the dosages may do me harm in the long run. What could I take our is this pain normal.

Hello,

You hurt your back after a squat exercises. Since you are having pain on your lower back area you have used wrong technique while squatting and hurt your spine. You are not suggested to continue with your squatting exercises as further squatting can damage the spine even more. To reset your lower back muscle tension, injury, etc., you should get clinically examined by an orthopedist. You will be treated accordingly.

Massage treatments, acupuncture or fascial stretching therapy may be helpful. Consult a physical therapist. It is the easiest way to exclude any serious injuries and start with needed treatments. Taking very high doses of pain relieving medications will do more harm then good. Stay at rest. Do not unnecessarily strain your back. Warm and cold compression or taking a hot water bag may help to reduce the pain.

You can spray pain relieving sprays (Volini) on the area affected to reduce pain. You can take muscle relaxants, one sos when needed. Combiflam / opioid or Naproxen, one SOS when needed. Never take medicines in excess, it will cause harmful side effects. Stay away from addictions if any.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
