What Is The Recovery Time After Bone Spur Removal?

Last Monday , 5.2.11, I had a bone spur removed. I was told I would be ok in 4 days time. I am doubting this as I am in the 8th day of recovery and I can barely use the crutches. What is the normal recovery time for this procedure. My age is 40, height is 4'9" and I weigh 157. I used to jog and was active but after 2 1/2 years of ankle pain I had to break down and go to a charity hospital. They answers I get from each doctor is different... I am concerned I may be out of work for a longer period of time.
