What Is The Recovery Time From Cold And Cough?

I have had the cold/flu? for over a week with a cough that won't let up. Sneezing seems to have subsided except for occasional sessions. But the sensation to cough is always. I am a non smoker, non drinker, try to eat healthy so on...
should I be concerned about the cough? How long can I expect the cough to go on?

Thanks

Hello

Welcome in H.C.M.

I have gone through your query regarding cough and cold, from which you are suffering for last few days. though you got relief from sneezing but cough is still there.

I would like to say that cough and cold are caused by allergy, viral infection, bacterial infections. As far as restoration period is concern that depends upon the causative factors. Only viral cough and cold recovers by itself if there is no super added secondary infection is there and that is of 5 to 8 days.

On the other hand allergic cough and cold remains continue till contact with allergen is there. So to treat allergic cough and cold one should try to avoid allergen along with anti allergic treatment.

Bacterial cough and cold are of acute and chronic depending on the infection with pathogenic bacteria this really demands specialist care for proper examination, investigation and finally treatment.

I hope above answers your query.

Regards.
