What Is The Remedy For Blisters Due To Allergic Reaction?

Hi there, I seem to be allergic to, I think, horseflies. However they do not bite (I feel no sting or pain) but merely sit on my for a second or two before I shoo them away. However, several hours later huge (1cm in diameter) red lumps appear at the same spot that they sat that later on form a waterblister. It itches like mad! I have anti-allergy ontment and take oral anti histamines but it doesn't seem to help. The blisters then open and I have these red open sores. I live in Namibia and our family likes hiking in the veld. It is too warm for long sleeves and the flies mostly sit on my arms.

Regards,

Susan

Hello
Thank You for contatcing HCM.

Yes these rashes are due to allergic contact of fly with your skin. In all cases of allergy first thing is to find the cause and prevent. In your case fly is the cause and you need to avoid it. Use repellent lotion on your body. If a patient comes to me with similar symptoms then i would suggest cetrizine 10 mg at night for 5 days and montelukast 4m once daily for one month. Research has shown that montelukast helps in suppressing allergic response for future.

Report to hospital if:
> Condition starts to deteriorate.
> Condition does not improve in 2-3 days
> Any unusual symptom appears.
> There is difficulty in breathing.

Hope I have answered your query. If you have any further questions I will be happy to help. If you do not have any clarifications, you can close the discussion and rate the answer. Wish you good health!
