I have had a severe itching scalp for months, went to dermatologist and he said it was dermatitis, gave me medicine to apply b.i.d. but it is so oily can t use it if I m going out in public because my hair looks horrible. Now I have pinprick sensations all over my body. It may be on my arm, then leg, earlobe, neck - just continuously with no relief except to scratch! Help please.
Hi. As per your case history of itching on scalp. My treatment advice is - 1. Avoid applying hair oil for at least 30 days. 2. Apply an antifungal lotion like clotrimazole lotion twice daily on affected part. 3. Take an antihistamine medication like levocetrizine twice daily for itching. 4. Other treatment options are oral antibiotics, oral fluconazole taken only after consulting a dermatologist.
Thanks. Dr. Harshit bhachech. MBBS, DDVL.
