Psychiatrist 's  Response
Hello thanks for asking from HCM

Social anxiety is one of anxiety disorder. Persistent anxiety results in social and occupational dysfunction. Individuals learn that they will develop anxiety and this result in avoidance. I would advise you to consult a psychiatrist for treatment.

- Medicines like SSRIs can help in social anxiety. Fluoxetine, Sertraline are effective in social anxiety. Apart from this propranolol have good results in anxiety provoking situations like in presentation or group discussion. Consult a psychiatrist for prescription.

- Yes if proper treatment is taken it results in improvement.

- With behaviour therapy it can be treated without medicines but it took time to see results. Consult a psychologist for behaviour therapy. Relaxation exercise, yoga supplement the treatment.

- Visit a good psychiatrist near by for treatment. You will see improvement in about 4-6 weeks of starting treatment.

Thanks, hope this helps you
