What Is The Remedy For The Phlegm Due To Cold Causing Difficulty In Breathing ?
I have had a cough and lots of phlem now for about a month. My Dr put me on 2 different antibiotics and not really helping so its been diagnosed as a virus of some sort. My cough seems to have subsided mostly but the phlem is so excessive most of the time but worse when I go to bed. I have been taking mucinex daily and drinking hot tea seems to sooth. I have not had any other cold symtoms but this phlem seems to obstruct my breating at times. My appetite seems fine and no fever or other aches.
I have gone through your query regarding excessive phlegm which causes difficulty in breathing specially during bed time.
As you said that neither you have fever nor other symptoms of cold and quantity of phlegm is too much that causes difficulty in breathing, your these symptoms favours that this all is allergic in nature.
About one month had already passed of your illness so these basic investigations are must for planing of treatment-
1- X-Ray chest.
2- Culture and sensitivity of phlegm.
3- Gram's staining of phlegm.
4- Blood- CBC, ESR, blood sugar (fasting & post parendial).
By the inferences of above investigations and their co-relation with physical findings one may reach to correct diagnosis and that may be treated accordingly.
Regards.
