What Is The Right Dosage Of Losartan For High Blood Pressure Levels?

I was taking Atenolol 25 a day to treat my mild hypertension but because of a side-effect my doctor replaced it with half losartan 25 a day. For the past couple of days my blood pressure has become eratic spiking to as high as 160/100 at a time with the drug appearing to have no effect on controlling. Would it be all right for me to increase the dose to 25 or higher until it comes under control -hopefully?

Thank you for asking HCM.
I have gone through your query. Losartan 12.5 is a very low dose and you might need a higher dose like 25 or 50. The hypertension can be due to the rebound effect from stopping betablocker atenolol. Initially losartan dosage can be increased to 25mg and monitor BP. If no improvement it should be increased to 50mg. Consult you GP for adjustment of dosage.
