Hello doc, I had pregnancy test yesterday and its positive. As I calculated, I'm 8 weeks pregnant based on my last first day of period. I am not ready to get pregnant because its not the right time for us. Me and husband are unemployed at the moment. And I, myself is not ready to get pregnant again. What can I do? I am going to see a obgyne in the city to have a check up.. I was wondering if what might be the causes if a doctor use raspa, or make abortion,?
Hello, You have made the right choice in deciding to see a specialist instead of trying to self-medicate as the majority do in such circumstances. Medical abortion can be safely induced until 9 weeks of pregnancy. However, after the 7th week, complete evacuation sometimes fails and the best choice after 7 weeks is to go for a surgical evacuation under strict aseptic precautions, have a follow up later to ensure absence of any retained products. Please abstain for at least two weeks after the procedure and start regular contraception prior to further intercourse. Hope this helps.
