What Is The Sandpaper Like Feeling In My Upper Mouth?

I have this sandpaper feeling like a filmy layer is covering the roof of my mouth towards the back and has moved to the inside of my lips now. I've had a head cold with stuffy nose and sore throat for a couple days now could this have anything to do with it? It is driving me crazy because I can feel it with the back of my toungue and it makes me gag sometimes.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain the sandpaper like feeling at the back of roof of mouth and inner lips along with a film covering the roof of mouth and having symptoms of cough and stuffy nose seems to be due to viral throat infection leading to inflammation in the mucous membranes of mouth and causing the symptoms that you are experiencing..
You should take a short course of antibiotics like Levofloxacin to prevent secondary bacterial infection, take anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen,take dcongestants like Phenylephrine, do warm saline gargles,steam inhalations, avoid spicy and chilled foods..
Drink plenty of water and take a soft diet..
If you have soreness and pain inside mouth you can gargle with a numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine..
