What Is The Small Red Bump Where My Right Tonsil Used To Be?
I had my tonsils removed 24 years ago. I am now 33 y/o and noticed a small red bump where my right tonsil used to be. Sometimes it feels like a sore throat. I have a bad taste in my mouth. No strep because I had it checked up a month ago. No body can tell what this is!! Please help
Thanks for your query. I have gone through your query. The swelling in the tonsil and the bad taste(due to pus discharge) can be because of the peritosillar abscess or pterygomandibular space infection. Nothing to be panic, you can take a course of antibiotics preferably amoxicillin and metronidazole combination(if you are not allergic). Do warm saline gargling. Better to start the antibiotics immediately, otherwise the infection will spread to involve the adjacent tissues. If the issue is not resolved even after these drugs, then consult an ENT surgeon and get it evaluated. I hope i have answered your query. Take care.
