What Is The Solution For Dizziness?

I m very dizzy. It began 8 days ago. I ve talked to my doctor, who I already had a scheduled appointment with for a routine med check. She said vertigo & prescribed antivert 3x/day. It hasn t helped. It feels worse when I lie down--like I keep falling backward. Sometimes I m just sitting in a chair and I get dizzy for no reason. I am not nausious and I don t have ringing in my ears. Meds that I take & have taken for awhile & levels are checked every 6 months are 2 for blood pressure & my blood pressure is great now, 1 for clorestorol & my clorestorol level is now perfect, zoloft for depression & I m ok, and thyroid med & that is ok too. I can t stand this feeling. I m very careful but loose my balance if I get dizzy & I m afraid to fall. I m 65 & live alone. What do you suggest? Paula THIS IS AWFUL. I THOUGHT THIS WAS A LEGIT WEBSITE TO HELP ME. NOW I SEE THAT YOU JUST WANT $$$ AND WHO KNOWS WHAT ELSE. JUST FORGET IT!!! WHAT TERRIBLE PEOPLE YOU ARE!!!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear,

You do not need to pay any money for your queries in this Medical forum. The service is free of cost.

The symptoms as mentioned in your post can be due to:
1. Any pathology in the vestibular apparatus in inner ear (it is associated with maintenance of body posture & balance)
2. Any fluctuation in blood pressure levels (such as Postural Hypotension)
3. Decrease in blood sugar levels (Hypoglycemia)
4. Deficiency of certain nutrients like Iron, Vitamin B 12, Calcium, etc. which interferes with blood formation & nerve conduction.

Symptomatic relief can be obtained with Vestibular sedatives (antivert), as prescribed by your Doctor. Please take them as advised.
In addition, you can take nervigenic agents (like Vit B6, B12, Folic acid) & Pantoperazole (to be taken 30 minutes before meals).
Investigations like complete blood count, estimation of blood pressure and blood sugar levels and vestibular function tests will be helpful in clinching the diagnosis.

Meanwhile, maintain adequate hydration, take a healthy balanced diet & avoid sudden head movements.

Wishing you a good health.
Take care.
