What Is The Solution For Face Skin Discoloration After Using Hair Removal Cream?

I used Veet hair removal cream on my face, upper cheek, just below the eyes to be precise, to remove the baby hair. And then I used it again few minutes later then rinsed it off fast because of burning sensation. But the color of my skin being slightly brownish or wheatish brown the skin color changed into white pinkish color. And it burns a lot in that small part and a colorless liquid is being formed in that area. What do I do? Will that mark stay forever?! :( Is there any consequences? I applies bateroban ointment on that spot. I cant tell mom either cauz im scared. Please help me :(

Hello and welcome to healthcare magic.

First and foremost, please do not be that scared as your problem shall be resolved. You have developed an allergic contact dermatitis to the hair removal cream which is causing all your symptoms.

The bactroban ointment you are using is a plain anti bacterial. What you need a steroid- antibiotic combination like Flutibact ( fluticasone with mupirocin) which would resolve your symptoms. Use this ointment twice a day for a week. Use a gentle cleanser like cetaphil for your face and avoid the use of soaps. It is important to also use a sunscreen every 3 hourly.

After the resolution of this problem, in case some pigmentation is left behind, you can use a lightening agent in continuation with the sunscreen.

In my opinion, do not use this method of hair removal again. Going in for lasers would be a better and safer option.

Hope this was helpful. Wish you a speedy recovery.
